Subj: [Matoaka] Has to Stay Behind

>Shaw awoke as they approached New Detroit, and were hailed by Ford and
>the Detroiters. They beached the canoe, which Matoaka would not let
>out of her sight.
>
>"Well, it isn't Ben Franklin, Tom Shaw, and, well, a modern
>Sacajawea," Ford bellowed. "Good to see ya again! Did you find the
>metal you were looking for?"

Matoaka looked at Ford impassively. She made a note to herself to
privately ask Benjamin who seemed to be well acquainted with Ford what he
thought about the man.

To GM:
GM-What kind of tone did he employ calling her a ‘modern Sacajawea’? No
matter what the tone was, Matoaka will not verbally react due to the
mission they are on, i.e. seeking Ford’s help.

*private*
To GM:
GM - This is for me: Sacajawea. I have never heard the term before,
could you please tell me what it means and would Matoaka have heard it
before?

*public*
>Benjamin smiled and nodded, and spoke about their plans to build a
>water-wheel, asking if any of Ford's people had experience with such
>equipment. He offered use of part of the wheel's energy in exchange
>for help building it.
>
>"Sure, sure," Ford agreed, "we can build something like that. It's a
>damn good idea, too, especially if you can make metal gears. I'll have
>my Model-R Ford yet!" He smiled and winked, and spoke more loudly, his
>voice carrying to the New Detroiters. "And with any luck, long before
>Toyota gets even close. We Amer.., er," he looked at Shaw and Matoaka,
>"...Westerners can't let them Japanese get ahead of us, can we?"

Matoaka did not care nor did she understand why the rivalry between Ford
and Toyoda-san for those odd looking carriages. Smiling at her thoughts:
In her time, the white man seemed fond of them, they had their purpose, but
fighting over them seemed ridiculous to her, besides, there are no horses
on Riverworld. Hearing about this Western and Easter ‘conflict’ only made
her raise an eyebrow. While Benjamin followed Ford, Matoaka stayed behind
next to her canoe.

Matoaka kept her hands under her tunic-towel and was extremely alerts.

Plan:
If there is anyone around, she will remain at a distance and try to learn
all she can about Ford’s village: purpose, life, and their odd carriages.
She will also inquire whether or not there are any people like her around
here.

Plan:
If or when it gets quiet she will observe the surrounding and walk around
as long as the canoe remains in sight. Once back, she will sits down, eat
her chewy dried up fish and have a smoke with her long pipe.

To GM:
GM-Could you describe what Ford’s and Toyoda-san’s wannabe cars look like?
